The Jacobs Special Olympics co-ed basektball team took the silver medal in their division at the state championship this weekend in Peoria. The team will be honored at the April 12 School Board meeting.
In 2008, this Jacobs Special Olympics team made history as the first competitive athletic team in District 300 history comprised of students with disabilities. Tomorrow, the team will write a proud new chapter in D300 history at the state tournament. The state championship tournament March 12-13 capped off an exciting year for the team, which - thanks to community support - was able to play before a Chicago Bulls game in December at the famous United Center, as pictured.
